Copper is our main focus and pays more per kilo than any other common scrap metal, so it is worth sorting before you leave Stirling. Sheds, farms and machinery around Stirling produce copper from electric motors, pumps, old wiring and radiators.
We buy every grade of scrap copper from Stirling 5152: bare bright wire, #1 clean pipe and busbar, #2 soldered or painted copper, copper-aluminium radiators and coils, and electric motors with copper windings, plus copper wire and cable, brass and the copper inside old air conditioners. Each grade is weighed on certified scales in front of you and paid by bank transfer the same visit.
Homes, trades and businesses across Stirling and the rest of the Adelaide Hills Council area sell their copper at our yard at 12 Belfree Dr, Green Fields. No booking is needed.
Bare bright, #1 and #2 copper are graded separately, so every grade in your Stirling load gets its own price.
Scrap copper →Copper price →Insulated cable and copper wire from Stirling jobs and clean-outs, priced on its copper recovery. Stripped thick cable is worth more.
Copper cable →Cable price →Taps, valves and plumbing fittings, sorted into clean or mixed brass. Take steel parts off for a better price.
Scrap brass →Brass price →Replaced split and ducted units contain copper pipe, coils and a compressor. Have the gas recovered by a licensed technician first.

Stirling customers get the same copper prices as everyone who sells at our Green Fields yard. Our price guide is $17.00–$21.00 per kg for bare bright and #1 copper and $7.00–$15.00 per kg for insulated copper wire and cable. Copper prices follow the London Metal Exchange (LME) copper price and the Australian dollar, so they move from week to week, and your exact price is confirmed when your copper is graded and weighed in front of you. See our copper price guide or call 08 7225 9998 for today's rate.

Yes. Our Green Fields yard buys and recycles scrap metal from across the Adelaide Hills Council area: copper, brass, aluminium, lead, stainless steel, steel, car batteries, electric motors, radiators and catalytic converters. Every load is sorted, weighed on certified scales and sent on to be recycled into new metal.
It depends on the metal. Copper pays the most per kg, followed by brass, then aluminium, lead and stainless steel, with steel paying the least. Prices follow the metal markets and are the same for every suburb. Our scrap metal price guides list the current range for each metal, and every load is weighed on certified scales in front of you.
By how clean it is. Bare bright copper is clean, uncoated wire with no insulation or tarnish. #1 copper is clean pipe, busbar and thick wire with no solder or paint. #2 copper has solder, paint, light corrosion or fittings attached. Insulated wire and cable is priced on its copper recovery, the share of its weight that is copper. Sorting your Stirling load by grade before you come in usually gets you a better overall price.
Yes. We buy insulated copper cable, building wire, extension leads and stripped copper wire. Stripping thick cable turns it into bare bright or #1 copper, which is worth more per kg, but thin wire is rarely worth the time, so bring it in as insulated cable. Remove plugs, lugs and steel where you can.
At our Green Fields yard. Our brass price guide is $9.00–$14.00 per kg, depending on how clean it is. Bring brass taps, valves, plumbing fittings and fixtures; clean brass with the steel and plastic parts taken off earns more than mixed brass.
Sell it for its copper. Split and ducted air conditioners contain copper pipe, copper-aluminium coils and a compressor, and we buy them at our Green Fields yard. The refrigerant gas must be recovered by a licensed technician before the unit is disconnected or brought in, so never cut the refrigerant lines yourself.
Current photo ID, such as a driver's licence. Sort copper, brass, aluminium, cable and batteries into separate bags or tubs if you can, and take off steel or plastic parts. Gas bottles, asbestos, chemicals, fuel and ammunition are not accepted.
By bank transfer, the same visit. Once your copper and other metal is graded and weighed, we confirm the price with you, check your photo ID and pay into your account before you leave.
Sort what you can, bring photo ID, and we will grade and weigh your metal in front of you and pay you before you leave.
