Radiators are sold by type. Older copper-brass radiators are the most valuable. Air conditioner and refrigeration coils, with copper tube and aluminium fins, sit in the middle. Modern aluminium radiators with plastic tanks pay less, but still add up across a load.
We identify each radiator with you, weigh each grade on certified scales and pay you the same visit. Radiator shops, mechanics, air conditioning technicians and farmers sell radiators to us regularly.

Radiators and coils are processed so the copper and aluminium can be recovered separately.
Older copper-brass radiators contain more copper than modern aluminium ones, which is why they pay more.
Coolant is toxic, so radiators should be drained and the coolant disposed of properly before recycling.
Removing the parts that are not copper or aluminium lifts the grade.
Drain radiators completely and dispose of coolant properly. It is toxic.
Cutting plastic tanks off aluminium radiators moves them into a cleaner grade.
Unbolt steel brackets, fans and shrouds where it is easy.
Stack copper-brass, Cu-Al coils and aluminium separately so each is graded on its own.
Separate it from steel, rubbish and other metals where it is safe to do so.

It depends on the type. Copper-brass radiators pay the most, then copper-aluminium coils, then aluminium radiators. Plastic tanks and steel frames lower the grade. See our radiator price guide for indicative ranges.
Copper-brass radiators have copper-coloured fins and brass or copper tanks. Aluminium radiators are silver all over and usually have plastic tanks. Air conditioner coils usually have copper pipe with aluminium fins.
It is not required, but aluminium radiators with the plastic tanks and steel brackets removed are graded higher.
Yes. Drain radiators before you bring them in and dispose of coolant properly. It is toxic to people and animals.
