Quick answer

Where Can Plumbers Sell Copper Pipe and Brass in Adelaide?

SA Copper Scraps buys copper pipe, brass fittings, tapware, valves, stainless sinks and lead flashing from plumbers at 12 Belfree Dr, Green Fields. Clean copper and clean brass pay the most, so cutting brass off copper pipe lifts both rates. No booking needed; paid by bank transfer the same visit.

Plumbing scrap

Copper and Brass Are Your Best-Paying Offcuts

Plumbing work produces two of the most valuable scrap metals: copper and brass. Clean copper pipe with no fittings or solder is graded as #1 copper; pipe with solder, paint or fittings is #2. Brass fittings and tapware are graded clean, chrome-plated or mixed.

The easiest gain is cutting brass fittings off copper pipe, so each metal is paid at its own rate instead of the whole length being graded down. Plumbers from Salisbury, Parafield Gardens and the inner north drop off between jobs.

Copper with brass attached is graded down. Separated, both are paid at their own rates.

Keep plated taps apart

Bag chrome tapware separately so clean brass is not averaged down.

Drain cylinders

Hot water cylinders must be empty before they come in.

Keep lead flashing in its own bag or tub, and wear gloves when handling it.
