Recycling scrap metal with us takes one visit. You stay with your load the whole time, and you see every reading on the scales.
Keep copper, brass and aluminium apart from steel where it is safe to do so. Mixed loads are fine; we sort them with you.
Bring your load to 12 Belfree Dr, Green Fields during opening hours. No booking needed; ring ahead for loads over about a tonne.
We grade each metal with you and weigh every grade separately on certified scales in front of you.
We record current photo ID and seller details for every sale, as South Australian law requires.
We confirm each grade’s rate and pay you by bank transfer before you leave.
Scrap metal falls into two groups. Ferrous metals contain iron: steel and cast iron, which a magnet sticks to. Non-ferrous metals don’t: copper, brass, aluminium, lead and most stainless steel. Non-ferrous metals are worth many times more per kilo, so pulling them out of a steel load is the easiest way to lift your payout.
Run a magnet over the pile, keep each non-ferrous metal in its own bag or tub, and take off steel screws, plastic and timber where you safely can. Bring insulated cable as it is; thin cable rarely pays for the time it takes to strip. Our guides on how to sort scrap metal before selling and how scrap metal is graded and paid for go into more detail.

We are a registered South Australian business trading from a fixed yard at 12 Belfree Dr, Green Fields, just off Salisbury Highway and Port Wakefield Road. Copper is our speciality, and the same team grades and pays for every other metal that comes through the gate.
Sorted metal goes into its own bins and on to smelters, refiners and steelworks as feedstock for new metal. Metals can be recycled again and again without losing their properties, so a load recycled here is metal that doesn’t need to be mined and doesn’t end up in landfill.
From a bag of copper offcuts to regular trade loads, the process and the scales are the same for everyone.
Shed and garage clean-outs, renovation leftovers, old hot water systems and appliances.
Metal recovered during strip-outs: frames, roofing, pipe and cable.
Batteries, radiators, wheels, motors, offcuts and production scrap.
A few items are a danger to you and to our team, so they have to come out of a load before it reaches the scales.
South Australia’s Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2025 brings in dealer registration, mandatory identification and record-keeping for every transaction, and a ban on paying for scrap in cash once it commences. We already work that way: we record your photo ID and the details of each sale, and we pay by bank transfer, so every sale has a clear record.
If you are bringing in a large amount of copper, cable or catalytic converters, be ready to say where it came from. It protects you, and it is what a compliant yard is required to ask. More on what the changes mean for sellers is in our frequently asked questions.
Our yard is in Green Fields, next to Parafield Gardens, Salisbury and Mawson Lakes. Customers bring metal from right across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia.
